Carrollwood Village in Tampa, Florida is located to the west of Original Carrollwood and was developed in three phases in the 1970’s. It is unique in that it was one of the first building projects in Hillsborough County to involve study and planning by such experts as traffic engineers, school planners, and environmentalists, to determine its regional impact upon the community. It was designed and built in phases around the Emerald Greens Golf and Country Club in the 1980’s. Each Phase has its own Master Homeowner's Association and it is this individuality and micro-management that makes the community stable. In the past 25-30 years, other subdivisions have sprouted up next to it, namely Beacon Meadows, Carrollwood Meadows, Northlake, Northdale and the huge community of Plantation off Gunn Highway.

Carrollwood Village also has its own quarterly Village Newsletter called Village Views reporting information relating to the activities of the associations as well as news and features of general interest to Village residents. An active Carrollwood Village Website acts as an identity as well keeping its residents current with happenings and needs in and around the Village.

One activity in Carrollwood Village Tampa that would allow it to become a part of the wide effort to “buy local” products and reduce its waste in the world is the creation of the VISTA Gardens (Village Institute for Sustainable Technology and Agriculture), a community garden to create a recreational activity utilizing available space where all members of our community, young and old, could come together and enjoy the outdoors and learn about organic gardening. The project would be a not for profit organization and is still in the planning and organizing stages.  Modeled after The Sweetwater Organic Community Farm in the Town ‘n Country neighborhood of Tampa off Hillsborough and Hanley Roads, it also would be Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project where farmers and consumers share a direct partnership with the risks and rewards of land stewardship.
